Robert Plant considers Led Zeppelin Reunion Tour in 2014

Robert Plant is finally ready to talk about a possible Led Zeppelin reunion in 2014. The rock legend appeared on 60 minutes (Australia) and talked about the reason for Led Zeppelin’s inactivity. Plant was quoted saying “Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones are Capricorns. They don’t say a word. They’re quite contained in their own worlds and they leave it to me”. He added, “I’m not the bad guy, You need to see the Capricorns. I’ve got nothing to do in 2014.”

This is obviously huge news for fans who have been waiting for a Led Zeppelin reunion tour since 2007 O2 Arena concert. Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham were all on board to keep the band going after the hugely successful one-off show. They actually went as far as auditioning singers to fill the spot. Robert Plant, who was touring with Alison Krauss at the time, initially had no interest in revisiting the past. He went on to record and tour with The Band of Joy. Hopefully Robert will finally see the light and give Led Zeppelin fans what they’ve been waiting for all these years.

Led Zeppelin on David Letterman

Led Zeppelin will be featured guests on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday December 3rd, 2012. This is the first time since the December, 2007 London O2 show that Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones could possibly share the stage together. The band is in New York to promote the highly anticipated DVD/ CD box set “Celebration Day”. Whether or not they perform live together on Monday is a mystery. Some fans speculate that Led Zeppelin will dig deep into their repertoire, jamming something not heard on the “Celebration Day” DVD. LedZeppelinGuitar.com wants to know what classics you would like Led Zeppelin to perform? (UPDATE 12/24/12 – Unfortunately the band did not perform on the show… however Paul Shaffer and “The World’s Most Dangerous Band” did jam Black Dog as Jimmy, Robert, and John Paul Jones were introduced)

Just in time for the holiday season Jimmy Page finally released the 2007 Led Zeppelin one-off reunion O2 Arena show. “Celebration Day” is available in several formats. The basic package is sold as 2 DVD’s, 2 CD’s. The Deluxe edition consists of 1 Blu-Ray, 2 CD’s, (Featuring high-resolution 48K 24 bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound), as well as bonus footage of the 02 rehearsals at Shepperton Studios. Celebration Day is also available on vinyl (180 gram). Prices range from $25 to $47. “Celebration Day” is well worth the money in my opinion (It’s like a watching the concert from the front row). Jimmy Page Documentary

Jimmy Page did an interview for the documentary film, “A Life in the Death of Joe Meek” by Howard S. Berger and Susan Stahman in 2008. Joe Meek was a British record producer and songwriter. He was best known for his work with the band the Tornados and their 1962 number 1 hit song “Telstar.” Meek was also considered a pioneer in the recording business for his unique techniques and futuristic sounds. Joe Meek ultimately became a victim of his own paranoia and committed murder in 1967 when he killed his landlady and then committed suicide. Some of the other artists in the documentary include Peter and Roger Holder of the Tornados and Ritchie Routledge of the Cryin’ Shames.

The surviving members of Led Zeppelin recently held a press conference promoting the highly anticipated cinematic release of the 2007 one off show, “Celebration Day” premiering October 9th at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater.

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, will be in attendance for London’s premier at The Hammersmith Apollo on October 12. In a recent interview John Paul Jones was asked about the possibility of a Led Zeppelin reunion… “When I move house, I never look back at the house and go, ‘Oh, that’s the last moment I’ll see there.’ I always move forward.”

Jimmy Page was much more direct, crushing any hopes of a 2013 and beyond tour by adding… ”I think if there had been any more concerts to be done, we’d already be talking about them. So I don’t see it. Celebration Day is a testament to what we did in 2007. There it is.”

Zeppelin aside, Jimmy Page has been asked numerous times about his plans to tour and release new material. His compositions - Embryo Number 1 and Embryo Number 2 were heard in the Davis Guggenheim documentary It Might Get Loud . In 2009 Page was quoted ”I’ve got the music waiting, and that’s what I’ll be doing. It’s been two years since the 02, so it’s time to do that.” Is 2013 the year that Jimmy Page finally tours? Only time will tell.
